What a team!

Pr. 31:10-31 describes a virtuous wife.  I think its safe to say it describes a virtuous woman.  (whether married or not)

Now check out Ps. 112, which describes a righteous man.

Both of these passages describe the righteous person, the virtuous person, the blessed person.  What is the common foundation of those people?  They fear the Lord.

“A woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”  Ps. 31:30

“Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments.”  Ps. 112:1

When we live a God-honoring life, fearing Him, it will show in our decisions and our actions.  We will be blessed and honored by the Lord now or in time to come.  Do not doubt the power that comes through surrendering your life fully to Him.  Let your heart be steadfast, trusting in Him, and let your own works praise you.

What God has promised, He is able to perform.  Ro. 4:21.  Imagine if the things said in these verses could be used to describe you at the end of your life.  They can.  You and God make a winning team!

I have included those verses below for those who don’t have their Bible handy.  🙂

Ps. 112

Praise the Lord!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. A good man deals graciously and lends; he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he will never be shaken; the righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies. He has dispersed abroad, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be exalted with honor. 10 The wicked will see it and be grieved; he will gnash his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Proverbs 31:10-31

10 Who[a] can find a virtuous[b] wife? For her worth is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar. 15 She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. 16 She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard. 17 She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. 18 She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. 19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle. 20 She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet. 22 She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants. 25 Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 “Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.” 30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, aAnd let her own works praise her in the gates.
