Don’t wander off

Pr. 21:16:  “A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead.”

Yesterday I watched a movie about the journey of a mama bear and her 2 cubs.  A wolf followed them and tried to lure one of the cubs away from the mama.  He would tease the cub and then run away.  He was hoping the cub would leave its mother, follow him, and try to fight him on his own.  The wolf knew that if he could get the bear cub alone he’d be able to kill him.

That’s what the enemy does to us.  He teases us.  Sometimes he even teases us with things that look right at first glance, but if we’d stop and pray, we would find that maybe those things are simply a trap.  Often we even try to fight him on our own.  When we wander off on our own, we are making ourselves vulnerable and we will indeed rest in the assembly of the dead.

Don’t wander from the way of understanding.  Stick close by your Protector and ask for His advice before being lured into a trap.  We would save ourselves so many scars and bruises if we’d but ask His opinion first.  We would keep ourselves from eternal death if we allow Him to care for us and if we would not wander off, allowing ourselves to get so caught up in sin that there is no way out.

Stay close to your papa bear today.  He will keep you safe.
