In light of the cross…

Pr. 9:6:  Wisdom cries, “Forsake foolishness and live, and go in the way of understanding.”

From where do we get wisdom and understanding?  Pr. 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Any relationship you choose to nurture will bloom.  If we spend intentional time each day in the Word and in prayer, and we allow the Word to speak to our hearts, we will gain understanding.  We will begin to fear the Lord, which means we will desire to show Him respect.  It is a natural progression.

The knowledge we will then have will naturally help us make wiser choices.  Instead of simply thinking, “what feels good to me right now?”, or “what do I think is best?,” we will think, “in light of Jesus’ sacrifice for me, which choice is best?”

“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.”  Ro. 13:11   We don’t have time to waste intentionally living in sin.

We all sin.  We all fall short, but when we have given our hearts to the Lord, we become His children.  His children were made righteousness when He took on our sins at Calvary.  A humble, repentant heart that is loyal to can be forgiven.  The blood of Jesus covers our sins and washes them away.  After that, everything we do in Jesus’ name becomes holy.

If we intentionally choose to continue sinful habits, we are trampling Jesus underfoot (Heb. 10:29).  The blood of Jesus is no common thing, it is a holy thing which deserves the highest respect.  It is natural for us to desire to show Him honor through our lives.

Walk with the Lord.  He will show you how to live.  He will guide your paths and your decisions.  Through your relationship with Him, He will give you the strength to serve Him each day.

Praying for us all to choose wisdom today,

jamie
